New York City, NY
October 2016
My bestie has been to New York many times. This was my first, and only ...to date. Since she had been several times, she knew the ins-and-outs, info, tips, etc. It was a great Bestie's Fall Break in October 2016!
Let me just say that I understand what a "New York minute" really means now. Shew! That city moves fast! Move it or lose it...especially in the subway! These people have places to go and people to see, and they aren't stopping for anybody! And if someone gives you directions, and they say it's just about "two blocks"...be prepared to walk like 6 of our blocks....just saying!

The 9/11 Memorial is a must see....you can't say it is beautiful under the circumstances of which it was built, be the memorial is beautifully done to honor those that we lost! Seeing stairs that people came down in hopes of escaping that day to the melted side of a fire engine to hearing voicemails left by those that called home before the perished...was truly gut-wrenching. For those of us that remember exactly where we were that day, that watched the tv in horror, that flocked to churches that night, that got on their knees and prayed, it is a very moving memorial, to say the least.
During the time that we went, security was beefed up, so we didn't get to actually go over to Lady Liberty. I was fine with seeing her from the boat though, and she is incredible!

Central Park
Central Park by day is beautiful! We took a pedicab, and I think that's the way to go. Our tour guide, Eugene, was both informative and extremely funny.
Strawberry Fields is a wonderful memorial to the late John Lennon. It is located on the west side of Central Park between 71st and 74th streets. From here, you can also see his apartment building and the street below where he was shot that fateful day.
Strawberry Fields....forever.
